First The Vine Adventures
The Table Is Set for Six
This is not a conventional tour. It is a beautifully paced, highly personal passage for travelers who value authenticity, curiosity, exceptional hospitality and the pleasure of being welcomed rather than merely admitted.
Custom adventures
for small groups
Have a date in mind, a region you have always wanted to explore or a theme close to your heart? Beyond our calendar, First The Vine designs custom adventures for small groups, built entirely around you.
You choose the dates, the destinations and the focus: a single great producer, a celebrated vintage, the harvest, a truffle season or a milestone worth marking with the right bottle. We shape the itinerary, secure the tables and arrange access to the cellars, with the same unhurried pace and personal hosting as every adventure we offer.
Tell us a little about your group and your wish list, and we will begin with a short questionnaire.

Dan Perrelli
Dan Perrelli is a wine industry veteran and storyteller. Mentored by Paul Wasserman on the architecture of Burgundy, he founded First The Wine/Then The Story in 2008, a private client wine retailer built around wines that tell their story over decades. A 2017 conversation with Olivier Krug sparked the creation of Effervescence, A Champagne & Sparkling Wine Celebration, and in 2018 he launched First The Wine Adventures, offering bespoke winery and culinary tours for small groups. He is the author of “Wine, Food, Friends,” a compendium of more than 150 wine dinners he has designed and hosted. He brought clients from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Laguna Beach, Houston and Chicago to Paris for a dinner at Oktobre hosted by Billecart-Salmon’s Antoine Billecart, featuring Magnum No. 1, Vintage 1961 and 1982 Blanc de Blancs en Magnum. In 2023, Effervescence returned with a La Grande Dame Collector Dinner in Los Angeles hosted by Veuve Clicquot’s Gaëlle Goossens, featuring wines dating back to the 1970s.

And basic terms
All adventures are limited to six guests.
Exact times, dates, locations, wineries, lodgings and restaurants are subject to change. First The Vine makes pre-payments to guarantee rooms, meals and winery visits. Ground transportation, apart from train journeys, is in chauffeured Mercedes cars and vans with forward facing seating. All drivers are fully licensed local chauffeurs.
Travel insurance is strongly encouraged. Please check your health insurance for coverage outside the United States.
These are all-inclusive adventures. Each guest is responsible for arriving on the appointed date at the stated airport or hotel. All other transport is provided. All meals and beverages are included (not included is room service, hard liquor and energy drinks).
First The Vine selects all the wines for each meal. In the past, there have been guests wishing to take advantage of a precious bottle at a reasonable price, perhaps a 2010 DRC La Tâche at 5,800€, less than US retail. It is suggested that in the spirit of camaraderie such an expensive bottle be separately purchased and shared accordingly with the group.
Prices from $2,000–$2,750 per day per person, double occupancy. Single supplements on request.
$6,000 per person non-refundable deposit due at time of booking. Balance due no later than 6 weeks prior to start date.
Should a cancellation be necessary, First The Vine will make all efforts to enlist replacement guests but cannot promise to do so. Should replacement guests be booked, a full refund will be made 30 days after the end of the adventure.
Full Terms & Conditions are available on request.
First The Vine is happy to discuss details via phone or email. We encourage you to ask questions before deciding. Should you want to design an adventure for a group of 4 to 6 friends, we are eager to offer our service.
More details including vignerons to be visited, restaurants, special events, etc. will be available close to start date. Requests are encouraged.
